The Outland review

is now out. Outland is Ottakar's Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Newsletter. Steve Robinson, manager of Ottakar's in Sunderland, reckons:
But a good short story, a really good one, is deceptively difficult to write. Which is why Black Juice such an outstanding collection. Because every single story in it is, quite simply, perfect. That's what I said: perfect.

Hear hear. I've just finished reading 'Black Juice' and I agree with every thing Steve Robinson says.

I had to read 'Singing my sister down' twice before I could get on to the rest of the stories, it was that touching. Maybe because I've got a five-year old son who is getting (has gotten) too big to be carried, which made me realise that the narrator is probably around that age... Which makes it all ever so much worse.

Thank you for a lovely collection.

I know, it's a big loss when you can't carry them around on your hip any more, or pick them up when they're distressed. But it's a while before they're too big to pin to the ground and kiss half to death! Heh-heh.

Thank you for your kind comments - I'm delighted you enjoyed Black Juice.
